Three decades of community change

1993
First step
Constantin Asăvoaie laid the foundation, inspired by the belief that the solution to a community's problems lies within the community itself. From here begins a journey dedicated to the vulnerable.

1994
Prevention projects for children of detainees are starting
PFR launches its first community interventions, offering support to children left at home and the first support activities for affected families.

2000
The Foundation opens day center and orphanage
A major step in our mission: we are inaugurating the first residential center for street children in Cluj-Napoca, offering them a safe home, education, and the chance for a normal life. The day center becomes a place where dozens of children receive a warm meal and homework support daily.

2001
We are opening the Social Canteen and the Social Inclusion Center
We are launching the Social Canteen, where homeless people and families in need receive a warm meal daily. In parallel, we are opening the Social Inclusion Center – a place where former detainees find temporary accommodation, counseling, and support for reintegration into society.

2005
Community outreach
Our mission goes beyond our centers. We initiate prevention programs in vulnerable communities in Transylvania and develop partnerships with medical facilities to provide assistance to those who lack access to healthcare services.

2009
Angel Network
We are launching the program dedicated to over 13,000 children in Romania who have an incarcerated parent. Collateral victims of the system, these children receive Christmas gifts, food packages, and proof that they are not forgotten through the "Angels' Network".

2013
We're opening the social store
We are opening the foundation's first social store. Donated goods that cannot be distributed directly are sold here at affordable prices, and all proceeds return to our programs – an ingenious solution where nothing is wasted and every leu reaches those in need.

2014
Reintegration Counseling Centers
We are launching the first programs dedicated to people leaving detention: psychological counseling, emotional support, and professional training. Because real reintegration starts with a job and the confidence that you can have a new beginning, we help them rebuild their lives step by step.

2022
Obtaining Public Utility Status
After almost three decades of activity, the foundation receives official recognition from the Romanian state. The public utility status confirms the impact and seriousness of our work and opens new opportunities to help even more vulnerable people.

2023
Initiating several European and national projects
In 2023, we celebrated 30 years of discreet work. We looked back with gratitude at the journey we’ve made and strengthened our partnerships for the future.
The past built us. The present empowers us.
Three decades of working in vulnerable communities have shown us what works, what is missing, and what needs to be carried forward. Today, we act with greater clarity, experience, and responsibility, knowing that every intervention can change a destiny. And what comes next depends on how we choose to respond to current needs.
Today
Our work has become more extensive and better anchored in the reality of families affected by detention. We run constant programs in prisons and communities, support children left at home, and collaborate with local institutions for sustainable solutions. Today, we act with experience and responsibility, where the needs are more urgent than ever.
In the future
We look forward with the same conviction: every child and every family deserves a real chance at rebuilding their lives. In the coming years, we aim to expand our programs to even more counties, strengthen national partnerships, and develop interventions adapted for future generations. We build the future together, step by step, where support is vital.
